| His card is supported, but the x86 fglrx package is outdated at the moment, so he's affected by an upstream bug. |

Just curios...: My Mobile Radeon 9600 is still "not supported", any suggestions when the mentioned bug will be fixed? I know, ati stuff takes longer
Regards

no idea, I don't have the card, and don't track this stuff actively. I suggest you locate a source for that information and then post when you discover that the card is now supported.
I will make a guess though, in a fairly soon to come new fglrx driver release, all 9xxx support will be dropped. That's a guess, but it's consistent with ATI's history up to now. |

Which bug are you talking about right now? Are you sure that the bug you're talking about is still present in the Catalyst 8.4 driver release?

Not this year. |

Sorry, don't know if there's anything else what could be wrong...
smxi tells me that it seems as if I had an ati, but it would be either old or not supported. I use the xorg-radeon, of which smxi says that the 9600 is in "beta support". I can live with the "performance" if I have to, but it's anything else but perfect |

| give it a try again. I removed 4e50 from the bad list, but remember, no fglrx driver is working with sidux kernel 2.6.25, you have to use 2.6.24, which is fine. That's installable via smxi, advanced kernel install options, if you don't have it. |

Excellent! That fixed it right up. Yes I have been keeping the older kernel - 2.6.24.
Thanks for the quick fix! |
